The influence of celebrities Influencers and celebrities who share edited or unrealistic images can affect a young person's self-esteem and self-image, leading to body dysmorphia (a body image disorder) and eating disorders in teens. One of the reasons celebrities are poor role models is that they often set out to surprise. It's pretty obvious that Miley Cyrus knows exactly what she's doing with all her stage antics. But when there's no real message behind those shocking tactics, it's not something worth emulating.

Children and young people who idolize these celebrities often copy their behavior by insulting their friends or siblings simply because they see their favorite celebrity doing so on television, social media, or in online videos.
